New Member of the Month Award !

I'll start just for the fun a "Member of the Month" permanent contest which will award the members which are the most active on the forum.

This will be calculated like this :

5 points per new topic
1 point per post you make in another topic than yours
1 point for 3 posts you have in a topic of yours, except your own posts

If anyone blatantly spams to artificially raise the score, then (s)he will get kicked from that contest permanently.

All have to be done in public, international forums. That means all private (=hidden) forums and international forums won't be counted in the contest. Closed boards don't count as well.

If you have suggests about the points or the whole idea, just tell

Starts on July, 1st.

mmm even if it'd count only starting next month, i think it's a problem we had in past, that a thread could be an infinite revenue...

I edit the points to that then :

5 points per new topic
1 point per post you make in another topic than yours
1 point for 3 posts you have in a topic of yours only in the month following the topic creation (it can be over 2 months, like from 5th of July to 5th of August), except your own posts

I prefer the "+1 month" because it avoids digging up dead topics just to fake results

But i'm still accepting suggests of course ! (better now than changing later)

It won't affect how I post in threads one way or the other. I got better things to concern myself over than postcounts and points.

Still, with most of the old OG members back, it is starting to feel like the old site again.

Actually, I'd reward topic author according to amount of replies his/her thread gains
That would make it pointless to make spam posts (although I assume no one but I do the spamming here :DL357; ) and it would also reward those who write about things that make people to post.

It seems to be ok for me, too. But I think that absolutely unnecessary threads (or nowadays topics ) which are worth only deleting them can be -x points of penalty. Although I don't think if anyone of us would make a thread like this...

Well, sorry about that but it would give Hg members an unfair advantage i think... (but i can definitely make another contest of same type for the Hg forums, if needed, as long as we don't mix both). The goal is more to make the international part active, you see...

Of course, if for any reason spam occurs, then score will be dropped or excluded

I was thinking the same about the Hungarian corners... Wonder how much of it is spam of some kind or another. LOL

Yeah, a penalty for blatant spam is not a bad idea, as long as it is clearly structured (I.E. Posts of 'give me points' like used to be a problem on OG)

I wouldn't say it's spam. I think it derives from the fact that we know each other personally and maybe because we are Hungarian. I don't know really

I figured it was because you all know each other there, but it is a kind of activity I would just love to see in the English-speaking section too!

Well, maybe the Hungarian corner is more active than the whole other part of the forum.
I also think it's because we know each other personally. About me I'm mostly introverted and there are only a very few people I'm willing to share my thoughts, feelings and problems, and Ancsur2002 and Silverice are members of this small group. So I use the opportunity this forum offers.

Did anyone make a change to Members of the month on the portal page?

Only shows five members now, while it previously showed 10.

Yes, i've made that change since it was terribly slow to load (obviously the portal doesn't know the "cache" option...)

If it's important to you, i'll try to make something to show 10 posters but not using the portal block, it's  crap.
Shouldn't be very hard to make a fast way, still.

Its no problem, I was just curious to why that change was made.

Never seemed to take very long to load on my machine, though.
